Dear Eagle's Nest Owners,
As a reminder, please join us at 10 a.m. each Tuesday for our informal Owner’s meeting, located on the mezzanine level. Our weekly meetings provide Owners an opportunity to meet other Owners and the Resort Manager, while also allowing time to review recent and upcoming projects, exchange ideas and discuss answers to any questions you may have about the resort.
Resort update as of July 2017:
Most of the projects approved at the budget meeting last fall are now complete, including the replacement of lobby furniture, fitness room equipment, and flooring; as well as installation of villa walkway tile, tower living room furniture, in-room safes, fire extinguishers, and the ice machine in the north villas. As units are vacant, we have started installing a new tile backsplash in tower kitchens, with 40 of 70 rooms completed at the time of writing. We plan to replace the Villa living room furniture in 2018, which follows the five-year replacement cycle.
We have also completed a number of safety and security improvements around the property this year, including construction of our beautiful new guardhouse, and installation of handrails at the stairs to the parking lot on the beach side of the tower building, bubble mirrors where needed, and speed bumps in the driveway in front of the tower.
Planning is currently underway for an extension of our south sidewalk to the street, the addition of a third smoking area for the north villas, and ADA accessibility improvements throughout the tower building ground floor, lobby, and mezzanine common areas.
These ongoing improvements, along with our service-oriented staff, lush grounds, and family friendly atmosphere, are what help ensure our continued recognition as an excellent resort.
Our neighbor to the north, The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, continues the construction of their south tower, which will provide additional rooms and enhanced facilities under the JW Marriott brand. Construction of the exterior will soon be completed and noise will be reduced as they move toward work on interior finish and furnishings.
Eagle’s Nest Owners are encouraged to share their knowledge, talents, and ideas through service on the Board of Directors. Board meetings are held twice annually at the resort and Directors are expected to attend both sessions. Travel expenses are reimbursable. At our Annual Meeting in February, there were four candidates seeking election to fill the one seat available. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes was Charlie Shelby, who was elected to serve a 3-year term.
There will be two open positions in 2018 and we encourage all interested Owners to submit their candidacy form by the deadline of December 1, 2017. Keep an eye out for more information in your Annual Meeting notification later this fall.
